Signature Resize to 10–20 KB, 140 × 60 px or 6 × 2 cm
Start with a phone photo or scan: trim empty paper, make the paper white and the ink darker, then save at the KB range and dimensions your form requests.
or drop it here, or paste with Ctrl+V. JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC (iPhone).
How to resize a signature
- Pick a photograph of your handwritten signature or a scan from paper. You can open JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC from a phone. Keep a larger source image if you have one; starting with a tiny thumbnail leaves little detail to work with.
- The starting settings are 10–20 KB and 140 × 60 pixels. Read your form before saving. For centimetre instructions, press 6 × 2 cm or 4 × 2 cm under Dimensions, or enter the measurements it gives you.
- Both Signature clean-up boxes start checked. They trim the empty area around the writing and make dull paper white while bringing out the ink. Changing either box runs the image again.
- Look closely at the preview, including the first and last strokes and any small dots. Compare the exact bytes, width and height with the upload instructions. Read any warning shown beside the result.
- Save the JPG and open it once on your device. Use that downloaded file for the application, and inspect the portal’s own preview when it offers one.
What the clean-up does
- Trim unused space. The crop follows the detected writing, leaving a small paper margin and removing the surrounding sheet or desk. The default “Fit with white edges” then adds white space to reach the requested shape, keeping those strokes inside the frame instead of cutting them to fill it. Small marks far from the main signature may fall outside the crop; the result warns you when this happens, and unticking “Crop to the signature” keeps the whole image.
- Remove dull paper colour. Uneven phone shadows, grey scans and yellow paper are corrected using the nearby background. The paper becomes plain white, with soft transitions kept around the edges of the writing.
- Deepen weak ink. Faint pencil marks or a pen running low become darker. The original ink hue is kept: blue remains blue rather than being replaced by black.
Clear both checkboxes if you only want a size change. You can also keep just the crop or just the paper correction. When there is no clear writing to detect, the tool leaves the colours alone and tells you that it only resized the image.
A stroke missing from the source photo cannot be restored. Writing that reaches the photo’s edge triggers a warning, so you can check whether a loop or the end of your signature was already cut off.
Signature size in cm and pixels
A digital image is a grid of pixels, so a size in centimetres depends on the DPI you choose. Choose the DPI before converting a paper measurement; when you set the size in cm, the JPG or PNG you download also records that DPI. This tool starts at 200 DPI because the IBPS scanning instructions call for a minimum of 200 dpi. The conversion divides centimetres by 2.54, multiplies by DPI, and rounds to the nearest whole pixel.
At 200 DPI, 6 × 2 cm gives 472 × 157 px, while 4 × 2 cm gives 315 × 157 px. At 300 DPI, the same 6 × 2 cm measurement gives 709 × 236 px. The shortcuts set the centimetres; the DPI field controls the pixel conversion. Use the resolution stated in your notice if it differs.
For other photos that need dimensions in centimetres and a chosen DPI, use resize image in cm.
Signature size for SSC, IBPS and UPSC
These entries were checked against the official texts on 9 October 2026. They describe specific notices, rather than every exam run by these organisations.
| Exam | File size | Dimensions | Other rules |
|---|---|---|---|
| SSC CGL 2026 | 10–20 KB, JPEG/JPG | About 6.0 cm wide × 2.0 cm high (para 9.6); the how-to-apply annex says about 4.0 cm × 2.0 cm. | Blurred or “miniature” signatures are rejected. |
| IBPS PO/MT-XV (2025) | 10–20 KB, JPG/JPEG | 140 × 60 pixels (preferred) | Use white paper and a black ink pen. Do not sign in capital letters. |
| UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2026 | 20–100 KB, jpg | “Between 350 pixels to 500 pixels” | Name the file “signature”. Sign three times, stacked vertically, on plain white paper in black ink. |

For SSC’s 2026 CGL, CHSL, JE and SI/CAPF applications, the SSC photo and signature resizer opens at 6 × 2 cm and checks the downloaded file; it also explains why these four notices require live photo capture instead of an uploaded photo.
SSC gives two different measurements in one notice: 6 × 2 cm and 4 × 2 cm, both described as “about”. That is why both buttons are available here. The starting KB range and pixel size follow the IBPS signature entry; the centimetre buttons let you set the two SSC measurements. Rules can change each year, so your own application notice takes priority. UPSC’s 350–500 pixels wording does not identify a side. Set the dimensions according to the instructions on your application screen.
Tips for a clean signature photo
- Use white paper with a black or dark blue pen. Write large enough to show the detail clearly; SSC warns against miniature signatures. If your notice requires black ink, choose black before signing.
- Photograph the paper from directly above in daylight. Leave some paper visible around the writing, with neither end touching the photograph’s edge. Avoid placing your phone between the light and the signature.
- For IBPS, keep your usual handwritten signature rather than writing your name in capital letters.
- For UPSC 2026, write the signature three times in a vertical stack and capture all three together in one image.
Why a signature file can be too small
A 140 × 60 signature contains few pixels, and most of them describe empty white paper. Even the highest JPG quality can produce only a few kilobytes. When a form needs at least 10 KB, this tool inserts blank comment data after encoding to bring the file slightly above that floor. It leaves the saved pixels intact. The result reports the added bytes; the guide to increase image size in KB explains this step further.
The upper boundary uses 1,000 bytes per KB, while the lower boundary uses 1,024. For the starting 10–20 KB interval, that means at least 10,240 and at most 20,000 bytes, keeping the file inside the interval under either reading. For photographs and other general files, open reduce image size in KB and choose the limits appropriate to them.
For general images that only need a 20 KB cap without signature clean-up, use resize image to 20 KB.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I resize my signature to 10–20 KB?
Select your signature image and keep this page's 10–20 KB range. Choose the pixel or centimetre size printed in your notice. Leave the clean-up boxes checked, inspect the strokes in the preview, and save the JPG. A file below the lower limit is padded after encoding.
How do I resize a signature to 6 cm × 2 cm?
Press the 6 × 2 cm shortcut below Dimensions. With the starting resolution of 200 DPI, the download is 472 × 157 pixels. A centimetre measurement needs a DPI to determine its pixel count; enter another resolution if your application specifies one. Keep the white-edge fit to preserve the signature's proportions.
Can I reduce a signature's size without it getting blurry?
A mostly white signature at 140 × 60 pixels often stays below 20 KB even at JPG quality 100. Soft results usually begin with a tiny source image, weak ink or a photo taken out of focus. Clean-up can deepen faint strokes, but it cannot recover lost detail. Inspect the small downloaded image before using it.
My signature photo has a shadow or grey paper. Will it work?
Leave “White paper, darker ink” checked. It estimates the paper colour across the photograph, removes uneven shade and turns the background white. If no clear signature is found, you get a warning and an ordinary resize of the original image. Check that the photo shows the signature on plain paper, in focus and in even light.
Does it change the colour of my ink?
The clean-up deepens the ink while retaining its hue, so a blue stroke stays blue. It does not convert blue writing into black writing. When an exam calls for black ink, use a black pen on the original paper rather than relying on a colour change after taking the photo.
Is my signature uploaded anywhere?
The selected signature stays on your device. Your browser reads, cleans, resizes and saves it locally; no image is sent to this site's servers. Downloading the result also happens locally, and you do not need an account to use the tool.
